Making Progress

Today I started to get back into the decrapification process. The garage was, once again, getting out of control.
Empty cardboard boxes everywhere! Since I fell down yesterday while dealing with the front yard (more on that another day) and I hurt pretty much all over but especially on my right side, I conned ... uh, persuaded ... Future Vet to start dealing with the cardboard. And I got Media Guy to help pull out some things to be Freecycled.

Future Vet did a great job of preparing cardboard to be taken to the recycling center:
Now we only have another 20 or 30 boxes to go!

And Media Guy and I put together a list of about 20 things to be listed on Freecycle. I was gonna do that tonight, but the dogs are howling to come in so I guess that's a task for tomorrow.

Not only did we get a good start on taming the garage yet again, Future Vet came up with a space-saving way to store his DVD collection -- and eventually, the family's collection as well. We bought some slim DVD cases, scanned the covers, shrank the spine information and put the covers back together, then printed them out so that he could have "real" DVD covers. The results are promising:
The tall stack on the right is the empty standard-size DVD cases. The smaller stack on the left is his complete collection of movies, taken out of those cases. Now he proposes to do the same with the family's collection of movies -- all three bookcases worth. Should be a fun project.

We had only minor negative progress today. In our search for Future Vet's biology and chemistry text books, which got packed away while he was out of sight and out of mind, we stopped by the storage locker. We didn't find the text books, but somehow or other, these objects made it home with us:

Super Soakers! Just what we needed! I think Future Vet plans to take them off to college this fall. But more on all that later.
